Somali Rights for Women (SR4W) was established on 15th February 2021 by a group of Somali intellectuals in Baidoa city who after extensive consultative meetings felt the need to set up this organization to advocate and campaign for the rights and well-being of the disadvantaged different groups living in the inter-riverine regions namely Bay, Bakool and Lower Shabelle. The founding members of the Organization are Somalis from different parts of Somalia who are committed to Human right, the rule of law and Democracy.
Somali Rights for Women (SR4W) is non-political and non-governmental local organization legally recognized and registered in its coverage area. Its main office is in Baidoa. The basis of the Organization establishment came after civil war occurred in the country has changed everything into the other, where women and children were subjected to a lot of suffering and humiliation.
Women and girls in the country is the least considered group in the society and faced a lot of intricacies throughout many of whom suffered. Many others suffered humiliation and harassment, the children especially girls couldn’t be able to get the basic education which is one of the factors for any community development.
Therefore, the main aim of this organization is to promote the rights of vulnerable groups and advocate for human rights for women and girls, their protection and developmental rights.
